The Village of Galena and its partners are advancing improvements to parks, streets, parking, sidewalks, stormwater infrastructure, and public facilities. Here is what residents can expect in 2026 and beyond!
Target: Thanksgiving 2026
McB and Sands Decker design-build team will complete widening, resurfacing, restriping and repairs as needed. Completion is planned by Thanksgiving 2026.
Target: November 15, 2026
Improvements include street resurfacing, replacement of a stormwater catch basin, sidewalk upgrades and expanded, paved and striped parking.
North Walnut: the parking area is being paved and striped, adding several parking spaces along with a new ADA-accessible sidewalk.
South Walnut: the guardrail will be relocated to allow properly designed, paved and striped parking spaces, and the street will be widened with a new sidewalk. Completion is planned by November 15, 2026.
Through November 15, 2026
Chemcote/CTL will install heavy-duty pavement, construct a raised center-block crosswalk and add new striping. Work is scheduled to begin in October, with completion by November 15, 2026.
Village-wide
Damaged pavement areas throughout the Village will be repaired.
Phase II underway
Phase I was completed earlier in 2026. Phase II, including restrooms, electrical work, concrete, and stonework, is underway, with completion planned by Thanksgiving 2026.
Phase III, including painting, trim work, signage and landscaping, is planned for 2028.

The trail will be widened and resurfaced with completion planned for November 2026.
Target: End of November 2026
Chemcote/CTL will pave the driveway, expand and pave the existing parking area and add striping. Completion is planned for the end of November this year.
Sidewalks installed
Sidewalks were installed around the perimeter of the Village Square, with a new crosswalk and a traffic calming bump-out on the southwest corner of the Square, improving ADA accessibility.
Target: December 2026
T Crete and Lawn Masters will construct a new ADA-accessible entrance to Village Hall. Completion is planned for December 2026.
