Planning & Zoning Meeting

The Planning & Zoning Commission has the responsibility to review and decide upon variance requests, conditional use requests, site plans, and other matters affecting the physical development and improvement of the Village.  In addition, the Commission makes recommendations to the Village Council regarding final subdivision plats, annexation petitions, rezoning requests, or amendments to the Zoning Code.  The Commission is also responsible for long-range planning including comprehensive planning, land use planning, and other studies as may be required or directed by Village Council.

The Planning & Zoning Commission meets third Wednesdays, as needed, starting 7:00 PM at Galena Village Hall, 109 Harrison Street.

Each meeting’s agenda is posted at these five public locations around the Village:

  • Bulletin board in the lobby of the Galena U.S. Post Office, 34 W. Park Street

Santa Claus & Christmas Tree Lighting

Santa Claus & Christmas Tree Lighting

5:00 pm - Join us at Journey Church to kick off the Christmas festivities with hot chocolate, activities, cookies and treats, Christmas music, and learn the history of the Historical Foundation. Also, meet Santa! 🎅

5:45 pm - Stroll with Santa from Journey Church to the Village Square.

6:00 pm - Big Walnut High School Choir

6:15 pm - Lighting Ceremony Begins

6:30 pm - Lighting of the Tree 🎄

This night will also be an evening of giving back. In partnership with the Sunbury Galena Rotary Club, we will collect unwrapped toys from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Tree Lighting. Please drop them off by Santa at Journey Church or at The Galena Square. If you can’t make it and would like to support this cause, please see the flyer below.

We look forward to a spooky time! The costume contest will be broken out by age groups infants to adults and be broken down accordingly. The contest will start promptly at 4:30pm.
